Primary School Programme
The Primary School Programme under the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines is designed for learners from Kindergarten to Grade 6 and focuses on the holistic development of children during their foundational years. The curriculum promotes values formation, literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, and life skills through a learner-centered and developmentally appropriate approach. It is built around key learning areas such as Mother Tongue, Filipino, English, Mathematics, Science, Araling Panlipunan (Social Studies), Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (Values Education), Music, Arts, PE, and Health (MAPEH), and Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP). The curriculum aims to nurture Filipino learners who are maka-Diyos, maka-tao, makakalikasan, and makabansa. These learning areas are designed to help students acquire essential knowledge and skills, apply them in real-life contexts, and contribute meaningfully to their families and communities. By encouraging curiosity, independence, and a sense of responsibility, the DepEd curriculum prepares learners to become productive citizens and lifelong learners. (deped.gov.ph)
