The Importance of Monday Flag Assembly and Global Flag Display at PCIS
At M7 Philippine Cambridge International School (PCIS), our Monday Flag Assembly, thematically organized based on values, is a vital tradition that fosters discipline, unity, and national pride while reinforcing our commitment to international-mindedness as an aspiring IB World School. Every week, students, teachers, and staff honor the Philippine flag, sing the national anthem, and reflect on their roles as responsible citizens. This ceremony not only strengthens Filipino values and cultural heritage but also instills a sense of respect, integrity, and patriotism—ensuring that amidst globalization, our students remain rooted in their national identity. In addition to honoring the Philippine flag, PCIS proudly displays the flags of other nations in our quadrangle, representing the diverse cultures within our school community and our connections to the global stage. During flag assembly, we highlight and recognize these flags as a symbol of our commitment to internationalism, respect for cultural diversity, and the interconnectedness of nations. This practice aligns with the IB Learner Profile, fostering open-mindedness and intercultural understanding among students. By embracing both national identity and global awareness, PCIS ensures that our students grow into globally competent individuals—proud of their Filipino roots yet engaged with the broader international community.
