Middle School Programme
The Junior High School Programme under the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines caters to students from Grades 7 to 10, typically aged 12 to 16 years. It offers a structured and well-balanced curriculum designed to deepen foundational knowledge and enhance students' critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills in preparation for Senior High School. The curriculum covers eight learning areas: Filipino, English, Mathematics, Science, Araling Panlipunan (Social Studies), Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (Values Education), Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE), and Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH). This comprehensive academic framework encourages learners to apply concepts in real-life situations while strengthening their understanding of Filipino identity, civic responsibility, and global citizenship. DepEd also promotes 21st-century skills by integrating research tasks, project-based learning, and performance assessments throughout the program. By fostering interdisciplinary learning and independent exploration, the Junior High School Programme aims to prepare learners for further education and to contribute meaningfully to society.
